Country Guide

The Country Guide is a resource for information on the location of a field project. You can use it when determining whether to accept a project, or to gather statistics about a country when you are advising on a field project.

Click on the map, or select one of these areas:

• Country Listing - Alphabetic lists all countries, territories, possessions, and other geographic areas alphabetically.
• Country Listing - By Region lists countries, territories, possessions, and other geographic areas organized by world regions.
• Select a world region: Africa Region, Antarctic Region, Asia Region, Australia-Oceania Region, Caribbean Region, Central America Region, Eastern Europe Region, Middle East Region, North America Region, South America Region, Southeast Asia Region, Western Europe Region, or the overall World Region Entry.
• Time Zone Map shows all the world's standard time zones.
• Information Fields shows the information maintained for each country. For example, every country has an information field for Birth Rate. From the Information Fields page, you can access a given information field for all the countries.
• Information Field Notes describes the information maintained for each country. For example, every country has an information field for Birth Rate.
• Geographic Places lists many places in the world (cities, states, islands, etc).

• Statistics: The U.S. Census Bureau - International Programs Center maintains world statistics. Also see their list of International Statistical Agencies.
• Travel Guides: Lonely Planet Online, Frommer's Online, and Fodor's Online.
• Travel Advisories: The U.S. State Department Travel Warnings & Consular Information Sheets provide excellent up-to-date travel advisories on each country.
• Aviation Safety: The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) International Aviation Safety Assessment program lists countries whose international airlines meet comply with the standards of the International Civial Aviation Organization (ICAO).
• Health: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention site provides detailed disease and health information for each country.
• Weather: The Washington Post Weather Database provides on-line access to historical data on thousands of cities around the world.
• Time: The current time in many world cities is shown at time and date.com. Consult their Full World Clock.
• Telephone: The Kropla International Dialing Codes site has extensive information for dialing international phone numbers.

You can also type in a word into the Search box above and click . For example, searching for “gold” will give a list of all countries in the country guide which mention “gold”.
