Charitable Organizations

The BBB Wise Giving Alliance. The BBB Wise Giving Alliance collects and distributes information on hundreds of nonprofit organizations that solicit nationally or have national or international program services. It routinely asks such organizations for information about their programs, governance, fund raising practices, and finances when the charities have been the subject of inquiries.

The Foundation Center. The Foundation Center supports institutional philanthropy by promoting public understanding of the field and assisting grantseekers.

GuideStar. A database of over 850,000 U.S. non-profit organizations. Information on each organization includes an organization’s name, address, Employer Identification Number, ruling year, and fiscal year. Many also contain financial information as well as a copy of the nonprofit’s Form 990, the annual financial reporting document that all public charities with incomes of $25,000 or more must file with the IRS. In addition, donors will find a description of many organizations' missions and programs. Thousands of organizations have added narrative data to their reports.

Helping.org. Helping.org is an online resource designed to help people connect with charitable opportunities, as well as volunteer opportunities in their own communities. Donation criteria are customizable and comprehensive information on organizations is provided.

Just Give. JustGive is a non-profit organization that simplifies the process of donating to non-profit organizations. They handle donations for over 850,000 non-profit organizations registered with the IRS. JustGive connects people with the causes and charities and always send 100% to the charity. They also provide services such as a secure Giving History, an annual summary of donations made through JustGive.org, the option to donate anonymously, the opportunity to make gift donations, the option to designate donations to a particular event or program, inspirational information, and online donation capablities for nonprofits.
