Participants must apply at least 2 months in advance. Commitments range from 2-12 months. Participants take 2-4 weeks of language class in country prior to volunteer work. You may choose the area or organization where you would like to volunteer. Participants will have a phone interview after their application is submitted. An in country orientation is given upon arrival.


Vary based on location and placement. Minimum age to apply is 18.

Financial Arrangements

Some positions provide free room and board. Payment for the program is due in full at least 4 weeks in advance.

History: Amerispan was established in 1993. They have sent over 15,000 people to study Spanish or Portuguese overseas and have sent over 500 Volunteers.
